The Cosy Corner of Creative Beautiful Things

Atop the hill,

I play with lights.

From sky to ground,

Lights surround.

Meander through the colours and images; the portrayals of things that exist yet do not exist. They bring you to another place, another time, another way of living life with wonder and beauty.

Have a stroll through the earth and fire creations, and listen with your heart to the songs that sing of love and connection, of unity and of places of distance unknown.

Take your time, and take pleasure in what is offered.

The water trembles upon the paper, waiting with baited breath for the first touch of colour to alight upon its skin.

With a gentle touch, the brush releases the magic of alizarin crimson, and the red spreads into the warm embrace of the clear water.

Together, they reach across the crisp white of the patient paper, and make a song of images that will transform ordinary elements into creations of magic.

The viewer of the finished dance of colour, water and paper will be transported to another world, a world where dust swirls amongst the stars and rainbows dance across the heavens.

A vision of another place, another time, another world, and a vision of this place, this time and this world.

All by holding in your gaze and in your heart a humble piece of paper, a pigment of the soil and the liquid of the land, blended together in a dance that will engage all your senses, and more.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Rising high,

Reaching up.

Blue sky playing,

Branches swaying

Watching, waiting,

King of the land.

Waiting, watching,

In peace with the land.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Friends we are,

One high, one low.

Looking, listening,

Friends we are.

What are you doing?

Get out of my way.

It’s my place,

It’s my day.

Looking down,

Seeing me.

Gently acknowledging,

Seeing me.

In peace, in silence,

Listening deep.

Hearing sunsets,

And moving sand.

Listening in peace,

Silence so deep.

Rising with sunrises,

Listening to sand.

Colours flow,

Time to roost.

Flying home,

With orange of sky.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Looking, waiting,

Atop the hills.

Rocks to stand on,

To play and to feel.

Purple, pink,

Swaying, moving.

Colours dancing,

Flowers singing.

Mother’s touch,

Gently soothing.

Keeping peace,

Keeping safe.

Across the veil,

To rising suns.

Touching stars,

And lands of time.

Cracks hiding,

I’m waiting.

Rocks cloaking,

I’m watching.

Majestic reaching,

High above.

Majestic reaching,

Deep below.

Curious,

Patient.

Wondering,

Waiting.

Silent, softly,

Walking by.

Peace inside,

With grass outside.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Hiding, watching,

Waiting, wondering.

Dust will follow,

And leaves will cover.

Red, pink,

The petals reach up.

Touching air,

Blending, dancing.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Swaying, dancing,

Fighting or playing.

Twirling, swirling,

Touching and feeling.

Watching the land,

Feeling the Earth.

In touch with all,

Being as One.

Look, look,

Look at the lights.

Here, there, everywhere,

Look, look,

Lights everywhere.

Come along, come along,

Follow me.

The lights will guide,

Follow them with me.

Peace,

I bring.

Light,

I offer.

It’s cold,

It’s dark.

But lights shine,

In the stillness.

The earth whispers her song, and releases her tune in to the warm elements of soil and sand.

Taking the gift, hands mix and blend, press and push, listening to the song within and without.

Soon, one can see the song manifest into reality, in the shape and structure of sculpture, in the touch and smell of clay.

Fire then joins into the music, and completes the melody, creating hardness and strength, shine and resilience.

The earth looks upon her manifested song, and smiles, “It is good.”

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

It starts with a smile,

Inside, turned inwards.

It expresses a smile,

Outside, turns outwards.

She waits,

She watches.

In silence,

In peace.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Rock jumper,

fun springing.

Up, down,

Rock springer.

Love embraces,

Holds softly.

Touch caresses,

Hold loves.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Block,

Protect.

Yield,

Let it pass.

Earth rising,

Form moving.

Earth expressing,

Power rising.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Curious,

I look.

Satisfied,

I look.

Sitting upon the bank,

I have just swam.

Life is good,

Sitting upon the river bank.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Riding across waves,

Swimming with currents.

The horse of the sea,

One with the flow.

Curious, yet ready.

The winds call.

Shall I run,

Or shall I play?

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Fire breathing,

Dragon power.

Sinuous body,

Fiery heart.

Connection,

Head to head.

Love,

Heart to heart.

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Wisdom calls,

Power reigns.

Eyes of peace,

Eyes of power.

Waiting, watching,

Under the waters.

Will he come,

Or will he wait?

Walking, calling,

Bringing to you.

A message, a voice,

Calling to you.

Stroking wild horses mane,

Softly, kindly.

Step gently,

To touch the horse.

Hippo’s sit,

Yes they do.

It might seems funny,

But sit they do.

Even babies, cute as pie,

Sit down too, yes, they do.

They are sweet, they are funny,

But sit down, they will do.

I shall be happy today,

For I am warm and I am free.

I shall be great today,

For I have love, comfort and friendship.

Wisdom looks,

Through eyes that pierce.

Wisdom sees,

Straight into your soul.

Dragon of might,

Of times gone by.

Breathing mists,

Through veils of time.

Here I sit,

Watching the world.

Here I sit,

Being the world.

I’ll make sure you’ll find your way,

I’ll guide you through thick and thin.

If you get lost, you only have to look back,

And I’ll be there, right behind you.

Inward I look,

Peace I find.

Inward I see,

Peace I am.

Eyes of the land,

Look in wisdom.

Peace of the land,

Resides in eyes.

I let my soul soar,

High in flight.

I play with the wind,

I play with the stars.

Push, pull,

Oh, it’s tough.

But push I will,

‘Cause I love.

Splendour undenied,

Majesty in movement.

Power in play,

Earth ignited.

The time comes, for peace inside,

Close my eyes, and I’ll feel,

Peace inside, and peace outside,

One with all, I’ll be.

The call from another, to have pieces of work that describe their intentions, their feelings, their books. They called my pen and paint to work, to fly across the paper with their desires and choices.

Here are illustrations for books that are published, spreading their essence across the land, delighting children and adults alike.

It’s hard work,

To bring the lights.

But so worth it,

So I’ll do it.

Lights surround,

lights fly.

Lights play,

With you and me.

Take a bow, baobab,

To the lights.

That are you,

That surround you.
